Kings on the Road! National RV Camping Club Dave's Trim Clean Suggestion |

| Dave has a practical idea for cleaning the trim on your King of the Road. |

| Hi folks, Last November at the Escapees home park in Livingston, TX we had nice neighbors with an older fifth wheel. The trim between his front and back caps and the sidewalls of his trailer was clean and white. So, I had to ask him how he got it that way. I was very interested because I had recently spent hours with a rubber roof cleaner and Soft Scrub with Bleach trying to remove the black discoloration, that I think is mold. My results were marginal, at best, and a heck of lot of rubbing. |

He said he used lacquer thinner. I was concerned because lacquer thinner such a powerful solvent and thought it might dissolve or deteriorate the trim, but I tried a small section anyway on my already "clean" trim. Wow! It cleaned with little rubbing and looked almost new. This summer, after almost 9 months, the small section that I had cleaned in Livingston still looked very good. There was no apparent deterioration of the trim material. That encouraged me to do all the trim. So, here is my suggestion: Wear plastic gloves (lacquer thinner will remove the fat from your skin). Use lacquer thinner and plenty of small rags. Wipe down the trim, keeping the rag almost saturated. Be careful to minimize any excess solvent on the silicone seal around the trim or on the fiberglass sidewalls. After cleaning, wax or protect your now white trim with Aerospace 303 or a good wax with UV protection. .... Dave is the 2004-2005 President of the KOTR-RV Club.
